Show Cal-Pac climbs to top of Senior League ladder Parowan for failing to field nine men. Utah International solidified their second place standing in the league during the week with a pair of victories, both over Parowan Clubs. The first was a 17-3 win over Parowan Merc with David Wright the winning pitcher. pit-cher. The second a 20-7 victory with Eric Chamberlain and Judd sharing mound duty. Collectively they were credited with 11 strikeouts in the contest. Utah International pushed in 11 runs on six hits in the second frame with 14 batters coming to the plate. Included in the big innings were, doubles by Wright and Chamberlain. Ace Hardware came up with a win during the week's action when they downed TWA 12-4. Neil Adams was the winning pitcher and he also belted an in-the-park homcrun in the first inning of play to set the pattern for the game. Utah Mort. 5 5 Snak Shak 5 5 Ace Hardware 4 5 Parowan Merc 2 6 State Bank 3 7 TWA Services 0 9 A lot of changes have come about in the Senior Little League program with the fine defense play of California Pacific Utilities moving them to the top of the heap with an impressive eight win and one loss record. In some of the action this past week Cal-Pac put that defensive genius to work against State Bank to score a 10-0 shutout behind the five hit pitching of Dave Middleton. Middleton gave up no more than one hit in any inning of play. Meanwhile Cal-Pac Cal-Pac collected seven hits but fashioned seven runs off just two of those hits in the sixth inning. On the mound for the losers were Robert Morris and Lance Prestwich. In one of the top pitching duels of the season Del Rich and Canyonlands met head to head during the week with Del Rich coming out the victor 6-2. Rick Rollo picked up the win for Del Rich with Doug Hall suffering the loss. Both men, however, were credited with 14 strikeouts in the contest. Canyonlands had two hits in the game, one a triple by Hall while Del Rich had four hits including a double by Robert Overson. Canyonlands was shutout for the first five innings and picked up their two runs in the sixth on an error, Hall triple and a passed ball. Canyonlands suffered another loss during the week when they had to forfeit to Snak Shak of |
