Show rovan 'mw approves buoget tor 194-5 year PAROWAN - The Parowan City i Council met Wed., June 26 in the City Offices. The budget was approved for next year running from July 1 to June 30. Total figure was One hundred twenty-thousand. This includes everything but water, electricity, and sewer. The city is now in the process of buying a new ladder truck for the electric department. Earl Bunn is in charge of this project.. Mayor Gurr reported on a meeting with the State Road Commission, where they discussed the main street resurfacing. The city would like to have this done as soon as possible. The Road Commission would prefer to wait until next year. They would however agree to patch the sides of the road where it has been dug up for the new curb and gutter project. More discussions are being held on this issue now. The city has also asked the Highway Department if they will remove some fence on North Main by the freeway to make way for the new Kane Springs road that will be built when the airport runway extention is completed. This will have to be taken to officials in Salt Lake for consideration. The city is now accepting applications for a man to work with streets and water department depart-ment and a policeman. They opened bids on the airport runway extension and tie down area. Dick Glantz, Bill Delida, and Burt Nichols where there representing Paroair and also the engineer for the project Bud Rhodes of Bullochs Brothers, Cedar City. One bid was received from Western Rock Products with Ardeen Childs there to represent them. Their bid was approximately seven thousand dollars over the engineer's estimate. They agreed to meet with the engineer and try to adjust the differences. |
