Show ijj-f-f-ff-M'frrM'rww ri LETTERS TO THE EDITOR To The Editor: I see by the "Public Notices" page in your paper last week that the Iron County Commissioners Commis-sioners are going to spend more than 80 of our revenue-sharing funds (that's over $74,000) on the new Iron County courthouse. court-house. Since that's just the funds for the first half of 1973, I suppose It's possible for them to add about $150,000 this year to the money that was voted to be spent on the courthouse. Sounds like our commissioners are trying to build a million-dollar million-dollar monument to their personal per-sonal commitment to the town of Parowan, no matter what the voters of Iron County indicated indi-cated was their preference in the last election. Now I don't object to this subsidy of the town of Parowan Parow-an so much as I wonder if there aren't better places to spend this money. For instance, imagine what even $5,000 would do for Wood's Ranch. Maybe that filthy mess of a pavilllon could be cleaned up and some picnic tables put In. For 10 or 15 or 20 thousand, the facilities and equipment could be added to and put into shape to make the kind of recreation re-creation area Iron County residents resi-dents deserve. A few more possible areas where the r e v e n ue-sharlng funds could be spent: Are our libraries so extensive and complete com-plete that they couldn't use additional funds? Are our roads In perfect condition? What about the county-wide trash-disposal trash-disposal problem? Well, there must be dozens of places where these funds could be spent that wouldn't be for the benefit of only one part of the county. It seems like our commissioners Just don't want to do anything but build a monumental new courthouse and it seems to me that the nice old courthouse is really quite adequate after all.
