Show Army Band Director able Musician f e' , Chief Warrant Officer Paul A. Chiaravalle, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, was recently assigned to the U.S. Army Field Band as Director of the units' Studio Band. Mr. Chiaravalle started his musical studies at the age of 10 with Martin Zielinski and later with Harold Herforth of the Cleveland Orchestra. While attending West Technical High School in Cleveland, Mr. Chiaravalle was chosen four years consecutively as 1st Trumpeter with the State Orchestra and has also performed as a clinician for WVIZ educational TV in Cleveland. In September of 1965, Mr. Chiaravalle entered the Army and after completion of Basic Training at Fort Gordon, Georgia was assigned to the United States Army Military Academy Band at West Point. While at West Point, Mr. Chiaravalle served as featured trumpet soloist with its concert band and Director of the Jazz Ensemble. In September 1973, Mr. Chiaravalle undertook bandmaster studies at the Army Element of the Navy School of Music in Little Creek, Virginia. DIRECTOR OF STUDIO BAND. Chief Warrant Officer Paul A. Chiaravalle is the director of the Studio Band of the United States Army Field Band. The group will perform in Cedar City Monday evening at 8 p.m. at Cedar High School Auditorium. After graduation, Mr. Chiaravalle was promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer and assigned as Bandmaster of the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps at Fort Myer, Virginia, the Army's official ceremonial unit and escort to the President of the United Mates. Mr. Chiaravalle brings a wealth of experience in all facets of musical performance per-formance to this assignment as Director of the Studio Band, the official touring jazz ensemble of the Department of the Army. |
