Show 1 Ma Bell Directory . lists changes Mountain Bell's Southern Utah teoephone directory, with print a little darker and bigger than before, is being distributed September 26 through October 5. The basic format remains the same except for the type style, which changes as a result of a major production switch by Mountain Bell. For the first time the white pages section of the Southern Utah directory has been put together by con-puter. con-puter. The DIR-ECT (Directory Project) system is being utilized this year by Mountain Bell. Listings of customers are fed into computers in Denver, where printouts are made. The actual publishing i is done in Phoenix and the system should provide increased in-creased efficience." The Southern Utah directory features the "hello" cover with large block letters. Emergency nembers are listed on the inside front cover with space again provided to list frequenUy called nembers on the inside back cover. One change in the opening call-guide pages involves moving the area codes and time zones map from page four of the present edition to the back cover. Green, purple, orange, blue and red colors identify time zones for customers and all the area codes are listed. Another difference customers miaht nntinn directories are bound in Portland. i Completing the cycle of geographic contributions to the Southern Utah directory is a San Francisco-based group which supervises Utah's throughout the southern half of the state in distributing the books. All the work is directed from Mountain Bell's Salt Lake offices, which handle all directory publications for Utah, Idaho and Montana. "It's a massive project," points out Dee Jensen, business office manager for Cedar City. "A tremendous number of people are involved in-volved and the directory covers a huge area. But we are able to maintain 99 per cent accuracy and the new comes at the end of the yellow pages with larger maps of Richfield, Cedar City and St. George than in past editions. The Southern Utah directory contains listings for 20 areas served by Mountain Bell and also has numbers for 11 communities served by independent companies. A complete list of communities com-munities listed is found on page one. The towns are placed in alphabetical order with the name and number of each local business manager printed at the start of each area. Customers who haven't received a directory by October 5 should contact that local business manager. |
