Show Educational Programs available Educational programs that have been tried and tested are available to Utah's school districts through the Utah State Board of Education's Facilitator Project. The Project functions as a linking agent between programs that have been developed and utilized by the nation's school districts and the needs of Utah's schools. "Two hundred 'Educational Programs That Work' are sponsored by the Facilitator Project and the materials that have been developed for use in each of the programs are available upon request," said Dr. Kenneth P. Lindsay, Lind-say, Utah Facilitator Project Director. If a Utah district is interested in-terested in a program that is being used, funds may be available for them , to travel to that program and see first hand if it will help the students in their schools. Because the programs sponsored have already been researched, tested and approved by the Project's Review Panel as replica ble -- as well as effective - , their adoption by local school districts represents a very real savings in time and money. Programs are available from ten categories, ranging from those which focus on basic skills development in reading, language arts, and mathematics to programs in physical education, environmental en-vironmental studies, and talent development. Alternative school models and programs aimed at the specific needs of bilingual-migrant, bilingual-migrant, early childhood-parent childhood-parent involvement and special education-learning disabled groups are also offered," continued Lindsay. |
