Show Cedar Celebrates Cedar City's 127th birthday is being j celebrated this week with special events being held for the declared "Iron Mission Days". The committee I headed by Tom Challis, Library Director at Southern Utah State College, will include special promotions by Cedar City merchants, : a story writing contest at local schools, and special window displays ; at the Power Co. and Christensen's ; Department Store (Zella Matheson in charge). The Iron Missions State Historical Monument will feature special exhibits of apple head dolls by f Mrs. FayeG.unnell and wood and bone J carvings by Mr. Alva Matheson. ! Special displays of pioneer clothes from the SUSC Drama club and the J Special Collections room at SUSC will be included in the exhibition. Copies of "The Founding of Cedar City" written by noted author and historian, Leonard Arrington, will be available for a dollar donation. It was announced Tuesday that Governor Scott Matheson would be in attendance at the Annual Birthday Ball slated for Saturday evening. Schedule of events Friday, November 10 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Open House at Iron Mission State Historical Monument featuring special exhibits. 10:00 a.m. Community School Pool Dedication at pool site. 4:30 - 7 p.m. Lions Club annual burger fry at the Iron Mission (bring the whole family and eat your dinner here). Saturday, November 11. Noon -Veterans for Foreign Wars Parade (Center Street to the Foundry Site, 100 East 400 -.North). 1 p.m. Dedication of Iron Foundry Marker at Foundry site. 2 p.m. DUP-SUP Meeting at the Rock Church with Dr. Morris Shirts speaking.
