Show Cedar Valley League opens Season The Cedar Valley Baseball program started last Saturday at the Enoch Park under the direction of the Cedar Valley Lions Club. Nearly 120 valley boys and girls from the ages of seven to thirteen had a chance to play baseball using new equipment purchased by local sponsors. New hats and jerseys have been purchased to add to the program. Two leagues have been organized: juniors and seniors. The five junior teams play two games a week on Saturday and Thursday and the seniors play one game a week on Saturday. Eagle Scout candidate Jeff Jones worked with the Lions Club and with Mayor Justin Cray to construct a backstop to be used by the summer baseball teams and become a permanent fixture at the Enoch park. The results of last Saturday's beginning play are as follows: Cubs 6, Cougars 5 Cardinals 7, Tigers 2 Cardinals 1, Dodgers 3 Pirates 6, Yankees 10 |
