Show ROSSMII.I.FR Ross Miller Receives Commission Ross Miller, member of the 22nd Field Artillery, 2d Battalion of the Utah National Guard headquartered in Cedar City was one of the 13 Utah National Guardsmen who graduated from the Utah Military Academy in ceremonies held Saturday June 23 at Camp W. G. Williams. Miller was named as the recipient of th coveted Adjutant General's Sabre Award as the outstanding member of the graduating class. The special award was presented by Maj. Gen. Maurice L. Watts, Utah Adjutant Ad-jutant General. In addition, Miller was the recipient of the Association of the United States Award which is presented for outstanding leadership. In attendance at the special graduation ceremony was Mrs. Miller, the former Debbie Gray of Payson and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nyal Miller of Cedar City. Members of the graduating class were commissioned second lieutenants during the ceremony. The group spent two, two-week summer camps and a year of monthly weekend drills in an intensive leadership course. Gen. Watts praised the new officers for their dedication to the principles of military leadership and urged them to make the best of their time spent with the Utah National Guard. Miller has served with the survey section in Headquarters Battery in Cedar City. His new assignment with the unit will lx with Battery R, located in St. George, as assistant Executive Officer. |
