Show Parowan Prepares Budget that a city employee will attend a workshop on cutting energy costs and made the request that the building inspector be notified that he is expected to attend Planning and Zoning Committee Meetings. She also reported that the Five County Association of Governments will help to prepare brochures for industrial in-dustrial development in Parowan at no cost. -Councilman Adams reported that the sprinkler system is running at the new Lions Club Park and that once ground leveling and rock removal is completed that grass will be planted which should begin in about two weeks. . -Councilman Benson reported that the safety signing program has begun. After installation, cos.ts for the program will be reimbursed reim-bursed by the Utah Department of Transportation. Tran-sportation. He also reported that a dip has been made at Center and First West streets to alleviate runoff water problems. 750 West St. in Paro-Vista subdivision has been inspected and officially accepted by the city for permanent maintenance. PAKOWAN - Mayor James Robinson reported on the preparation of the 1979-80 fiscal budget. A public meeting will be held on June 27 at 8 p.m. to discuss the new budget which will begin on July 1. All council members were invited to attend. Robinson said that Cedar City Manager John Hen-drickson Hen-drickson has been very helpful in preparing the final budget proposal. He said that ' this budget's preparation has been difficult dif-ficult because of the new state legislation which requires different accounting ac-counting and preparation procedures. County -City The Council agreed to ask Iron County Commissioners Grant Seaman and Dee Cowan to attend their next meeting on July 5 to discuss their proposal for joint city-county city-county pruchase of the Richardson Building from the State Bank of Southern Utah. The building is located next to the race track complex and has been offered of-fered for sale at $15,000. The council had been told that the county would consider a $12,000$$3,000 split with the purchase price. Councilwoman Bentley felt that even if the city pays $3,000 for its share, that there would be continuing expenses involved due to renovation improvements, etc. and that the council should consider these expenses ex-penses in making a decision. Personnel Study The Utah Intergovernmental In-tergovernmental Personnel Agency will contract with the city to prepare a personnel per-sonnel study for $400. The limit of $400 was previously stipulated by the city council. The agency included in-cluded a contract for the study which will be signed by the mayor and returned to the agency. Other Business -Mayor Robinson announced an-nounced that bids for the new culinary water line will be opened on July 5 at the city council meeting. -Maxine Stolk was appointed ap-pointed Manager of the swimming pool for the present season. Life Guards will be paid $3.25 per hour and maintenance helpers $3 per hour. -The council discussed the possibility of installing a key pump and storage for the purchase of wholesale gasoline for the city. -A claim of $743.72 by Howard Veater for damage in his basement due to flooding was discussed. The council referred the matter to the city attorney. -The council voted $275 of unused recreation funds to defray the water costs to the lst-2nd Ward Church for the Little League Park. -The Mayor reported that after talking with a representative in the Denver off ice of Urban Development that it is doubtful that Parowan will be awarded the grant which it applied for. The council will decide whether to withdraw Parowan's application in the near future. -The Gurr Farms Water Stipulation was discussed by the council and concern was expressed that it might set a precedent. The council has deferred the decision until The Parowan Reservoir Company reaches a decision on the matter. -Councilman , Joseph reported that the Police department is running efficiently. ef-ficiently.
