Show Third Ward Explorers Parowan wins Cedar Region Tourney Snow, and with the addition of Richard Burton and Rocky Patterson. Jeff Patterson substituted. PAROWAN - Tuesday evening, August 1st, the Parowan Third Ward Explorers Ex-plorers won the Cedar Region baseball tournament by defeating the Cedar 9th Ward 42 to 25. Mike Evans hit three home runs for the Parowan team, and Dave Evans hit one , Roger Bentley did an outstanding job as pitcher. Both teams only had eight players instead of the regulation 10, but were allowed to play the game since each had the same handicap. The Parowan 3rd Ward team consisted of: Jerry Patterson, Blair Bentley , Roger Bentley, Mike Evans, David Evans, Danny Stones, Mike Benson and David Snow. Other members of the group were on a high adventure trip to Yellowstone. The team was coached by Carlyle Gurr and James Patterson. The winning team was I awarded a shiny new soft-ball soft-ball bat. The Minersville team received the sport-smanship sport-smanship award. Representing the Cedar Region, the Parowan Third Ward Explorers played Saturday, August 5th, in the District baseball tournament tour-nament at St. George. They met St. George 10th Ward at 7:25 p.m. The group lost a heartbreaker, getting off to a bad start when some of the players were late arriving for the game, and the Parowan boys made several curcial errors in some of the early innings. Rocky Patterson Pat-terson pitched for the Parowan team. The score ended with a score of 12 to 3 for the Dixie team. St. George 10th later played St. George 7th and won the tournament with a score of 12 to 11.
