Show HAPPY H0MEMAKING HINTS By Janet Weaver Squash season is here again! Last year we ran several recipes on various ways to serve this nutritious delicacy. If any of you readers have more, please send them. Send all recpies and requests to 1 16 N. 200 E. or call 586-6759. Here's a repeat for new readers and those who might have misplaced theirs. FAVORITE SQUASH CASSEROLE Scrub and slice two or three yellow crook neck squash Peel and slice 1 large or two small Zuchini squash Peel and slice a small onion Put in a casserole dish Cover with one can of Cream of Chicken or Cream of Mushroom soup. Salt and pepper to taste. Bake in 300 deg. oven until squash is tender (approximately (ap-proximately 2 hour) A little cheese grated on top just before serving adds a delicious twist. FRIED CROOKNECK Melt butter or margerine in small frying pan Slice scrubbed yellow crook neck into the pan Season with salt, pepper, and onion salt or slice a little onion into it. Cover the pan with a lid and simmer until squash is tender. |
