Show t In OurOpinion Don'tdeny yourself the 'right to vote' The polticial season is just around the corner. In some cases it is already here as preparation are being made for the Primary Election to be held September 12 followed by the General Election November 7. One of the responsibilities of a democracy is that of voting and in order to vote a citizen must be properly registered. In this issue of the Record there is a list of registration agents throughout Iron County. Also identified are alternate methods of registration all designed to make it easier for the voter to be eligible to cast his ballot in the upcoming elections. Since there is no candidacy for the presidency of the United States this year's election is known as "off year election." Off-year election has a history of bringing out less voters supposed sup-posed because of the lack of interest and apathy. But "Off Year Elections" are just as improtant as the "On Year Elections." We still will have the right to vote for Congressional Representatives. We still will elect men to state government, we still will name to commissioners for Iron County, and -- in a non-partisan contest --two --two will be named to the Iron County School District. In addition we will elect representation to the State School Board as well. If we are to truly be a democracy the people must be represented. The most striking and effective representation is at the polls. Get registered. Prepare to vote and become a part of what has made this nation strong -- the right to elect a representative of the people. Only you can make it happen. |
