Show , p Day Care Centerneeds Clothing Donations of clothing, sheets, towels, toys and books are urgently needed for the early September opening of the Migrant Day Care Center in the Escalante Valley. The facility will open in Beryl when the annual Escalante Valley potato harvest begins and will stay open until the harvest ends, usually in late November. "Between 80-100 children are cared for each day at the center, most of them Navajo between the ages of six weeks and 12 years old," Virginia Higbee, Volunteer Service Coordinator, Southern Utah State College School of Continuing Education, said. "Used clothing, underwear, un-derwear, and shoes are needed the most urgently now. Any other articles such as used toys or bedding will also be gratefully accepted and will be granted extended usefulness if donated to the center," she said. Donated materials will be picked up by Day Care Center volunteers if Mrs. Higbee is contacted at SUSC, 586-4411, ext. 339, or Donna Pederson, Center Director, at 439-5564. |
