The first home game, and first RMAC contest of the season will be against the tough Mavericks of Mesa College on Sept. 23. The following is the remaining T-Bird schedule: Sept. 30: Adams Stte at Alamosa. Oct. 7: Westminster at Salt Lake City. Oct. 14: Fort Lewis in Cedar City. Oct. 21: New Mexico Highlands at Las Vegas, N. M. Oct. 28: Western New Mexico at Silver City, N.M. Nov. 4: Southern Colorado at Cedar City. Nov. 11: Western State College at Gunnison, Colo. Nov. 18: Colorado Mines in Cedar City. All games are slated for afternoon with kickoff at 1 p.m. nose guard and Dennis Alldrege, fullback. "With just a little recruitment luck and some breaks during the season, we could be plenty tough again in 1978," commented Coach Bishop. According to Coach Bishop, the first line defensive backs and linebackers looked strong in spring drills. The nucleus of a strong running attack and an adequate offensive line are back, he said. Scott Burns will be back for his junior year at the quarterback slot, but his first line receivers have all graduated. "We will be depending heavily on recruitment to fill these slots," Coach Bishop stated. Key Personnel Other top returning let-termen let-termen are Lane Martino, a 225 junior defensive end and an honorable mention Ail-American Ail-American last year; John Lundstrom, 180 pound All-Rocky All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and All-NAIA District Seven linebacker; Dave Castro, 220 pound second team All-RMAC linebacker and John Borla 175 pound second team All-RMAC All-RMAC defensive back last year. The T-Birds have a tough 10 game scheudle opening against Western Montana at Despite the hot weather, football season is just around the corner and Jack Bishop, new head mentor at Southern Utah State College is beginning preparation for the battle for honors in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, RMAC, this season. He will be assisted by Joe' Lopour and new assistant coach Boyd Adams, who was named to the faculty this spring and will be assuming his new duties at the beginning of this new school year. Head Coach Coach Bishop is assuming the head coaching position after two years as assistant coach behind 11-year veteran Tom Kingsford. Coach Kingsford will assume a teaching role in the physical education department at SUSC this fall. What are the prospects for SUSC this season. Only time will tell, but Coach Bishop will have a strong nucleus back from last year's squad that finished the season with an 8-2 record and third place in the RMAC.
