Show U. S. Forest Service bts Contract for Cedar BreaksEanguitch road Alvin F. Wright, Supervisor, Dixie National Forest, , announced an-nounced awarding of the contract con-tract for completing the reconstruction re-construction of the Forest Service Ser-vice road between Cedar Breaks and Panguitch Lake. The successful bidder on the contract was Strong Construction Construc-tion Company ' of Springville, Ut. The low bid was $1,067,555 for reconstruction of 9.3 miles of road and graveling an additional ad-ditional 4 mile section. When this1 reconstruction is finished, the entire subgrade of the' Panguitch Lake road to Cedar Breaks National Monument Monu-ment will be completed with a graded surface. Working in co-operation co-operation with Garfield and Iron Counties, the road will be oiled following completion ol the reconstruction work. , , ' '(" i Supervisor Wright also stated stat-ed that planning for .this project pro-ject Included full consideration considera-tion for the environmental needs of the road, the resources resour-ces and the lands through which the road passes. The road will contain special features; fea-tures; including senic overlooks over-looks and parking areas. Disturbed Dis-turbed areas along the roadside road-side will be reseeded and re-vegetated re-vegetated for highway beautif-ication beautif-ication and to prevent soil erosion. Work under the contract will be directed by two Forest Service employees from the Cedar City Office. Max Hamil-ton Hamil-ton will be responsible as Project Pro-ject Engineer and Otis McCall will be the Principal Project Inspector. It is anticipated that contract work will begin about the first of August. |
