Show Mayor details street improvement plans j From the Mayor's Office: In attempting to improve the appearance of our city, we are going to promote the construction con-struction of sidewalks and curb and gutter. The city intends in-tends to purchase necessary forms to do the concrete work. Other things, such as doing the engineering, grading and spotting gravel as the work progresses along a street, will also be a city problem. It is hoped that in this way the cost can be held down to where the property owners will have very little more cash outlay than for the actual cement that goes into the mix. This is, of course, where the property owner chooses to trade labor and obtain the use of a concrete mixer by borrowing, fading, renting, etc. If the entire concrete work is done on a paid basis, the cost will be more, of course. We plan to start an Center l Street, going east from Main St. for three blocks. This street is State Highway (U-43), and the State Highway department depart-ment has agreed to do much of the work in preparation for the concrete work, and when the curb and gutter is in, to oil the street from curb to curb; also a install mercury mer-cury vapor lights on said street. I The city council and mayor feels that one thing that should be insisted upon, is that an entire block should be done at a time, not just a lot here and there. I Those of you who feel your street or block would be in- f terested, talk it up and have 1 your representative at a future fu-ture meeting of the City Council, Coun-cil, so that we can work out a timetable to follow in the project.
