Show - Council approves changes in zoning ci June 4. Mayor Whetten indicated that the grading of the park is a project that will be co-financed co-financed through funds made available through the Housing Hous-ing and Urban Development of the Federal Government. He indicated that the council expects to install water and sewage lines during the sum- j j mer with the anticipation of planting next fall. In other action the council accepted the low bid of $2585 for the supplying of 3000 tons of gravel to meet city require, ments this year. Bid was submitted sub-mitted by Western Rock Products. Pro-ducts. A second bid of $2860 was entered by Carter Bros. Construction Co. I . A section of land adjoining highway 91 on south Main street and an enlargment of Highway Serving II zoning were approved by the Cedar City Council at their May t meeting. Public hearings were held on both matters prior to action ac-tion by the council and the changes were in keeping with recommendations of the Planning Plan-ning and Zoning Commission, according to Mayor Loren Whetten. A section adjoining the highway on the south wa-approved wa-approved to be changed from Highway Services I to Highway High-way Services H. Enlargement of HS II zoning zon-ing approved included the following fol-lowing additional facilities: Amusement enterprise, roller coasters, penny arcades, carousels, car-ousels, playgrounds and swimming pool. Other businesses busi-nesses authorized under the enlarged service grouping are sals of modular homes, house trailers and campers. Kent Dover, president of the Cedar City Golf Association, met with the council and requested re-quested permission for the organization or-ganization to construct shelters shel-ters on the Painted Hills Municipal course. He indicated indicat-ed that efforts were also being be-ing made to air condition the club house. Approval for the improvements were authorized author-ized by the council. Mayor Whetten also indicated indi-cated that the city is planning plan-ning the installation of a series ser-ies of chemical toilet units recently acquired at the ; municipal course this sum- j mer. Two appointments to the Cedar City Shade Tree Commission Com-mission were also approved by council. They included Will Jones as chairman and Bill Lunt. The two men attended at-tended recently a regional meeting held in Provo and are now in the process of further organization and promotion pro-motion of shade tree improvement improve-ment in the city. Further appointments ap-pointments to the commission will be presented to the council coun-cil at a later date by the Mayor following recommendations recommend-ations from Jones and Lunt. The Council authorized the call for bids on two matters. First will be a call for the printing of city ordinances and the second will be a bid for the grading of the Canyon Park. Both bids will bo opened open-ed at the meeting of the coun- |
