Show ROLLO-glyphics KLIEN ROIXO really Li that I envy those people in that area and all that moisture. But in spite of the wind and the dust it was good to be back in good old Iron County. Dixie College students have come up with a good idea and it is one that is really taking a blast at the news media and its reporting of the national : and world situation. i In a letter from Steven Brent Western of Dixie ho indicated, in-dicated, and I quote, "Over the past few months, on the nations college campuses, a ' crisis lias developed over the ! question of the war in Indochina. Indo-china. The news media has rallied to bring these predominately predom-inately anti-war demonstrations, demonstra-tions, both violent and nonviolent, non-violent, to every home served by such media." "We at Dixie feel that the above mentioned subject should be discussed openly and intelligently. This feeling has prompted us to sponsor an organized discussion on the topic. This affair will include in-clude students, teachers, townspeople, businessmen and administration." For those that might be interested in-terested this planned discussion discus-sion will take place at the Fine Arts Center Patio at Dixie Dix-ie College today, Thursday at 12 noon. It just might bo well to attend. Western concluded by indicating in-dicating that the news media might well publicize this event ev-ent "which would put in good light the reasoning ability and judgement of the majority major-ity student on todays college campuses." Possibly you've heard about this case, but I'm repeating it here for the interest that it might have and the problem that it poses relative to the j law and who it protects. It seems a farmer in Iowa rigged up a device to foil burglars bur-glars who had been breaking into his house at a rapid rate. A burglar climbed through a window one evening and was shot in the ankle by a shotgun shot-gun that was rigged up to a itring. The burglar was arrested ar-rested and fined $50 for en-, tering a house at night. j He turned around and sued ' the owner of the farm for $35, 000 for getting shot in the i money through court action and the farmer had to sell his farm to make a down-payment down-payment to the burglar. - Can't help hut comment on a trip I took this past week to i northern Utah and southern Idaho. Leaving Cedar City Thursday morning the wife and I traveled in sunshine until un-til we hit Utah county then that sunshine turned to rain. Throughout the entire area from Nephi to Rexburg, Ida. we spent three davs in rain. Returning Sunday it was still raining as far south in the state as Nephi but from Nephi on we ran into nothing but wind and dust. The point |
