Show County Political hopefuls Complete County filing A nearly complete slate of candidates for both the Republican Re-publican and Democratic offices of-fices on a county level were filed with Iron County Clerk Clair Hulet at the filing deadline dead-line Monday evening. All Republican incumbents but one have filed for reelection reelec-tion on a county level and the Democratic opponents have filed a slate of candi dates for all but three of the 11 offices. On the Republican ticket incumbent candidates include the following: State Representative: J. Harold Mitchell, Parowan. Four year commissioner: Keith Smith, Cedar City. Two year commissioner: D. Robinson, Parowan. County Clerk-Auditor: Clair Hulet, Parowan. County treasurer: Eugene F. Robb, Paragonah. County Recorder: Joan Was-den, Was-den, Parowan. County Sheriff: Ira Schopp-mann, Schopp-mann, Cedar City. County Assessor: Doe White, Summit. County Attorney: Hans Q. Chamberlain, Cedar City. Justice of the Peace: James S. Pinkham, Parowan. On the Republican slate of candidates only the office of County Attorney is not an incumbent. in-cumbent. Republican R. L. Gardner of Cedar City did not file for reelection. Also the Republicans did not file candidates cand-idates for the offices of Justice Jus-tice of the Peace in Cedar City and Paragonah. Democrats who filed Monday Mon-day were listed by the clerk as follows: Sttate Representative: William Wil-liam S. (Dub) Leigh, Cedar Ci-tay. Four year Commissioner: Delias Imlay, Cedar City. Two year Commissioner: Roy "Pug" Urie, Cedar City. County Assessor: Clark Bar-ton, Bar-ton, Cedar City. County Recorder: Arlene B. Warren, Cedar City. County Attorney: Mike Parks and Orville Isom. Justice of the Peace, Cedar City: Haldow E. Christensen, Cedar City. Justice of the Peace, Paragonah: Para-gonah: Melva Barton, Paragonah. Para-gonah. The Democrats did not file candidates for the offices of County Clerk-Auditor, County Treasurer or County Sheriff. However two candidates did file for the office of County Attorney and in all likely hood it will result in the necessity nec-essity of a primary election for that ofifce, Hulet indicated. indicat-ed. Elections to the Iron County Board of Education will also be held in November but deadline for filing is at a later lat-er date. As of this date no candidates have filed for these non-partisan posts, the clerk stated. |
