Show Parowan native is still a Forest Service official In a news release that came to us from a department of government office in Denver, we learn that Wm. D. Hurt, a native of Parowan and a person who will be remembered remem-bered by many of the older residents of the city, is still in service as a member of the Society of Range Management at Albuquerque. The communication states that Mr. Hurst will complete his term as president of the society at the 24th annual meeting of the organization in Reno, Nev. Feb. 18 and 19. He will be succeeded by Lorenz F. Bredemeier, of Fort Worth, Texas. Mr. Hurst Is regional forester forest-er of the southwestern region of the U. S. Forest Service. He was born in Parowan In 1915, and the family later moved to Panguitch. He graduated from Utah State University in 1938 after first being employed as a forest guard in this area in 1937. He was connected with the forest service in this area I for some years. He was successively succes-sively forest supervisor "ofThe Ashley National forest in Utah Ashley National Fores in Utah, assistant director of the division divi-sion of range management in Washington, D. C, assistant regional forester for range management in the Inter-mountain Inter-mountain region in Ogden before be-fore reaching his present post. |
