Show Rams lose to and win from class A high schools Coach Bill Farr's teams took on two of the best of the Class A schools in Region Reg-ion Eight as a finale to the regular league season, and took it on the chin in the first game, but did better in the second encounter. And although al-though losing both games, the Junior Varsity made a very good showing. . Saturday night in the Parowan Paro-wan gym the Rams met the Cedar High Redmen and came in a bad second to Coach Hobbs' team, and he used his second stringers much of the way. Tuesday night the Rams took on the Millard Eagles from Fillmore, and won by a 46 to 41 score. But much to my disappointment, dis-appointment, the main five o) the Eagle team didn't show up. I went to see the big Rich' ard George and others, but they didn't come, being saved by Coach Monsen for an expected ex-pected playoff this week. I The Eagle second string-lers string-lers took a substantial lead in the first half, but the Rams came on strong in the second half to win. Parowan was without the services of two of its first stringers with Rex I Orton out from injuries sus-j sus-j tained in a bad fall under the basket in the Cedar game, and Larry Pendleton was out with an illness. The Ram Junior Varsity, after af-ter taking an easy 72 to 35 I win over the Kanab JV's Friday Fri-day night, did very well with I the Cedar High JV team, but lost by a 36 to 35 score in a j whale of a game. It was the ' closest the Cedar High team had come to getting beat all year. Just to show how close and how tight the game was the quarter scores were 3 to 2, 18 to 11, 27 to 23 and then 36 to 35 at the end. The Parowan JV team lost to the Eagle Jv team by 51 to 46 in a hard fought game. For Parowan Decker, big center cen-ter re-injured his knee in the early minutes and had to sit out the rest of the time. |
