Show John C. Barton Succumbs, Final Rites Held Mrs. Hilma Lamoreaux John C. Barton, 88, the oldest old-est man in Paragonah for several sev-eral years, passed away at his home on July 12th. of a heart attack. He was active until minutes before his death, and had driven his car to the farm earlier in the day. His sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Stella Edwards, was visiting with him at the time of his passing. Funeral services were conducted con-ducted in the Paragonah Ward Chapel Saturday with Myron Abbott of the bishopric presiding. presid-ing. Mrs. Melva Barton was at the organ for the prelude and postlude music and also played play-ed an organ medley. Harry Partner gave the invocation. Mrs. Ruth Boardman gave a history of Mr. Barton, and Howard Joseph was the speaker. speak-er. Evan Cooper of St. George sang, "Beyond the Sunset", and a vocal duet, "I Heard the Voive of Jesus Say" was sung by Mrs. Lois McConnel and Miss Mamie Eck of Cedar City. Clark Lamoreaux gave the benediction and K. Doyle Robinson Ro-binson gave the dedicatory prayer. John Calvin Barton was born in Paragonah, June 1, 1879, to Stephen S. and Martha Eliza Smith Barton. He married Martha Elnora Reynolds Jan. 26, 1905 in the St. George LDS Temple. She passed away in 1965. Mr. Barton was a farmer farm-er and stockman all of his life. Survivors include a son Scott, Paragonah, and four daughters, Mrs. Cyril (Delia) Partner, Paragonah; Mrs. Clyde (Eunice) Milne, St. George; Mrs. Lavar (Ileta) Taylor, Parowan, and Mrs. George (Gwen) Melonas, Las Vegas; 28 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild. Also sisters, Mrs. Nora Forgey, Las Angeles; Mrs. Olive Edwards and Mrs. Sarah Rose, Parowan, Paro-wan, and Mrs. Stella Edwards, Ed-wards, Paragonah. |
