Rebecca Ann Miller Succumbs, Final Rites Saturday Mrs. Rebecca Ann Carson Miller, 93, Parowan's oldest resident, died of natural causes caus-es on Dec. 20 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bernice Burns here. Funeral services for her was held Saturday, Dec. 23 at 1 p. m. in the Third Ward Chapel with Bishop Rupert Hulet of the Second Ward conducting. Speakers were R. Taylor Miller and Mrs. Barbara M. Adams, who also gave a his-I his-I tory of the life of the deceas-j deceas-j ed. Offering the family pray-I pray-I er was Wm. F. Burns. The invocation in-vocation was by Howard Jo-1 Jo-1 seph, the benediction was by Harley Dalton and the grave in the Parowan City cemetery was dedicated by her son Robert Rob-ert A. Miller. """A double mixed quartet sang two numbers "Abide with Me" and "I know That My Redeemer Re-deemer Lives" and Howard D. Knight sang a solo, "I wouldn't would-n't Trade the Silver in My Mother's Hair for all the Gold in the World". Mary Lyman and Itha Mortensen accompanied accompa-nied the numbers and Ola Robinson was at the organ for prelude and postlude music. Pallbearers were Gary Miller, Mil-ler, Phillip Miller, Dean Rob- inson, Lloyd Sherratt, . Roy j Benson and Lowell Romberg. I Granddaughters, great-grand- daughters and nieces carried the flowers. The deceased was born in Washington, Utah April 26, 1874 to Valentine and Hannah i Wiggie Carson. She was married mar-ried to John Horace Miller on Dec. 26, 1900, and the marriage was solemnized in the LDS Temple at St. George. Mr. Miller Mil-ler died July 17, 1948. Two sons, Clair and Eldon, preceded preced-ed their mother in death. Mrs. Miller was an active member of the LDS Church, and was a charter member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Pio-neers, and remained active in her camp most of her life. She and her husband operated operat-ed a home dairy to supply butter and cheese to local stores. She served as a visiting tea-ther tea-ther in the Relief Society for 43 years, was a former stake missionary, practical nurse and a seamstress. She is survived by the following fol-lowing sons, daughters: Horace Hor-ace Miller, Mrs. Carl (Delia) Hallman, Cedar City; Robert A, and Mrs. Wm. F. (Bernice) Burns, Parowan ; Bertrand, Salt Lake City and Mrs. Neils (Mabel) (Ma-bel) Decker, Paramount, Calif. Also surviving are nine grandchildren grand-children and 14 great-grandchildren. |
