Show Cedar City Council Takes Look at Water, Parking I At the regular meeting of ' the Cedar City Council held Thursday, Dee. 21, matters of water and parking were taken under consideration in addition addi-tion to routine matters. Mayor Loren Whetten indicated indi-cated that the Council acted, on recommendation of the Cedar City Water Board, which : met earlier that same day, to issue a call for bids for the drilling of a well near the cemetery. The mayor indicated that the proposed well would utilize util-ize water acquired during the past several months and would be placed in the city's y tern to relieve non-culinary j uses such as watering of the ity park, cemetery, ball parks Tid the Painted Hills Golf Course. Bids on the drilling will be opened at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15 at the regular meeting of the council. Water Adjudication In addition the council also authorized Browning Piatt to iake necessary action to cor-rect cor-rect what the city believes to be inconsistances in the State Engineer's office in a new ajudication of water from Coal Creek. If necessary Piatt, with the city attorney, were authorized to file protests in accordance with the ajudication to protect the interests of the city in water not listed in the new allocation. Parallel Parking The Council also took under consideration recommendations recommenda-tions of the City Safety Committee Com-mittee in regards to parallel parking within the city. No action was taken but the council, the Mayor indicated, will in the very near future probably adopt a program for the city regarding parallel parking. Recommendations vary, but a blanket codecs being considered throughout the community, he said. |
