Show I Dr. Charles Peterson Will Be Historical Society Guest Speaker 1 Institutions and Processes of Mormon Expansion." While making the study for his dissertation, Dr. Peterson discovered the reappearance of Thomas L. Kane in Mormon history and his work with Brigham Young after the Utah War in the settlement of the Little Colorado area. It is this story that he will recount at the meeting, which is open to I the public without charge. Guest speaker for the Jan-Jary Jan-Jary 5 public meeting of the iron County Historical Society will be Charles Peterson, dean jf instruction and acting director dir-ector of College of Eastern Utah. The meeting will be held at 8 p. m. in the William R. Palmer Library in the base-ment base-ment of the Iron County School Board Offices. Dr. Peterson is an authority on Mormon history, particularly particul-arly that of the southern frontier. fron-tier. His subject will be "The Reappearance of Thomas L. Kane in Mormon History; Geo-pol.ties Geo-pol.ties of the Church." Dr. Peterson has taught history his-tory at CKU in Price since liJbS. Last year he was made Dean of Instruction and during the full quarter of 1967-G8 he has been acting director of CEU. He earned his master of science degree a t Brigham Young University and was a-warded a-warded a doctorate by the University Un-iversity of Utah in 19G7. He has been nominated by the U of U for the Alan Nevins Award for the best doctoral dissertation of the year in American History.
