The First Security Bank Foundation Distributes Scholarships, and Grants College, Ricks College, College of Idaho, North Idaho Junior College, Northwest Nazaiene College, Lewis-Clark Normal College, and College of Southern South-ern Idaho. Commenting on the scholar-l scholar-l ships and grants, Mr. Eccles said, "The First Security Foun-, Foun-, dation is encouraged lr its resolve to support higher education edu-cation in the Intermountain region by the quality and stability sta-bility of the colleges and universities uni-versities it honors. It is evident evi-dent that these schools have developed and maintained an academic climate in which the fu damental and worth-while purposes of education are clearly understood and appreciated appre-ciated by our student bodies." Scholarship awards will be1 made by the schools in the sp-ing. Winners are chosen by the school scholarship committee, com-mittee, together with the head of the department or school of business. 4-H and Future Farmers of America chapters in the area will receive $3,000 in the form of both individual and unit awards. Scholarships and grants totaling to-taling $17,300 are now being distributed by First Security Foundation to 17 Utah and Idaho colleges and universities universi-ties as well as to 4-H and Future Farmers clubs in the In te. mountain region. The announcement was made Saturday by Francis Beiensen, Manager of the Cedar Ce-dar City Office of First Sec-ur.ty Sec-ur.ty Bank, who said the grants include $400 in scholar-ships scholar-ships and $100 in library grants at College of Southern Utah. The grants bring to $212,300 the total of scholarships and grants which the First Security Secur-ity Foundation has distributed since its founding 15 years ago in December of 1952. George S. Eccles, president of First Security Corporation, is president of the Foundation. Other trustees are J. L. Dris-coll, Dris-coll, Marriner S. Eccles, and Willard L. Eccles. Schools receiving Foundation Founda-tion contributions include: University of Utah, Brigham Young University, Utah State University, Westminster College, Col-lege, Snow College, College of Ea tern Utah, Weber State College, College of Southern Utah, University of Idaho, Idaho State University, Boise |
