Show Redmen Win Eleventh Region Baseball Crown I The Cedar High School Red-(men Red-(men picked up their eleventh straight Region Eight baseball crown Thursday afternoon with a 1 to 0 victory over the Hurricane Tigers. The win gave the Redmen their fifth straight win in league play this year and Wynn Isom on the mound, was credited with each of the five victories. A close battle, both teams collected four hits, but the Redmen took advantage of a mistake and pushed in the only run of the game in the fifth frame. In that important fifth inning in-ning Wade Roberts got to first base on a dropped third strike by the catcher. On the swing, which he tried to hold up, the ball got past the catcher catch-er and with first base open Roberts easily made the base without a throw. He promptly stole second base and behind him Robert Smith, centerfield-er centerfield-er for the Redmen, belted a hit up the middle and Roberts came on to score. The Redmen actually threatened threa-tened on several occasions. In the fourth frame they loaded the besses on an error and two walks wih only one man out. The Tigers came up with a double play to eliminate the threat. Later in the fifth frame the Redmen moved runners to second and third after scoring the single run, but could not push them in. Several outstanding defensive defens-ive plays highlighted the game. In the second frame an excellent relay from center-fielder center-fielder Bob Smith to Dale Hatch in the relay position to Fella Johnson at third, to catch Staheli trying to stretch a double to a triple. In the third frame Johnson went to his left side to pick off a hard hit ball and scrambled scram-bled from his knees to throw out the hitter for another excellent ex-cellent play. Isom collected ten strikeouts in the seven inning contest. Wilson and Mathews for Hurricane Hur-ricane had a combined mark of four. The Redmen played errorless ball while the Tigers of Hurricane had four errors charged against them. An error er-ror on the dropped third strike in the fifth proved to be costly cost-ly as Roberts came on to score the only run of the game.
