Show LDS Conference Planned By Cedar Stake Members ana guests of Cedar Ce-dar Stake, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will attend special conference meetings Saturday and Sunday, Sun-day, May 13 and 14 in Cedar City. Allan M. Swan of the Missionary Mis-sionary Committee, Nathan B. Hale and Eleanor Knowles of the Mutual Improvement Associations will represent Church headquarters in Salt Lake City. Elder Swan was the second counselor in the Valley View Stake Presidency from 1961-67 and previously served as stake mission president of that stake. As a missionary, he served in Great Britain and was president of the Hull District Dis-trict while he was there. Elder Swan has practiced law as an associate with Wayne C. Durham. The Missionary Committee has jurisdiction over the 12,000 volunteers who are serving full-time missions throughout the free world. The Mutual Improvement associations are responsible for the weekday religious, social, and cultural activities of the youth. Elder Hale, a Salt Lake City businessman, is a conservationist conserva-tionist and a drama director. Miss Knowles is a graduate of Utah State University with a B. S. degree in Journalism. She works for the "Improvement "Improve-ment Era" as one of the editors. edi-tors. Meetings will be held Sunday Sun-day at 10 a. m. and 2 p. m. at 190 North 300 West. Stake President Alfred E. Whatcott, 643 South Journey's End, will conduct. Visitors are welcome. In addition to the two general gen-eral sessions at 10 a. m. and 2 p. m. a special MIA session will also be held Sunday from 7 to 8 p. m. President Whatcott also indicated in-dicated that special music for the morning session will be provided by a combined stake choir, and a combined youth chorus will provide music for this Sunday afternoon session. |
