DAVID ERNEST PETERSON Delegates Report At BPW Club Meet Ray and Clara Knell was the scene of a delightful dinner party served to 33 members Club for sponsoring a delegate to Girls State. and guests of the Cedar City Business and Professional Wo- men's Club. Presiding was 1 president Clara' Knell and in ' attendance were three High School girls who were delegates dele-gates to Girls' State at Logan. They were accompanied by their mothers, Laurie Ronnow and Mrs. Ronnow, Eva Rae Grimshaw and Mrs. Grimshaw and Mrs. Grimshaw and Elma Matheson. Mrs. Blanche Dotsan introduced intro-duced the program. She presented pre-sented Mrs. Vivian Knell who acted as counselor of Bonner City. She is the first counselor ever to be chosen from Iron County. Mrs. Knell introduced the delegates. Eva Rae Grimshaw reported on the procedure followed in setting up the Cities, Counties and States. She was especially impressed by the devotignals. She stated that she learned what our country was, what it is now, and what "It hopes to be. Laurie Ronnow spoke about the political aspect and she learned that each individual has a voice In his or her government. Elma Matheson talked about the social experiences and the broadening effect she received from them. In summing up the week's experiences, Mrs. Knell said that the Counselors are the political teachers. There were 18 Counselors and 299 girls. The delegates learned what equipment is necessary and the precedure of elections. Counselors and Girls learned to accept and respect the beliefs be-liefs of other religions and girls of different color of skin. Certificates of Appreciation were given to Miss Margaret Kopp, immediate Past President Pres-ident and Mrs. Clara Knell, President of Cedar City Business Bus-iness & Professional Women's |
