Show Lions Hold Business Meet, Hear Dixie Forest Officer The Parowan Lions Club met at the Old Rock Church last Thursday evening for its regular reg-ular luncheon and,, meeting,, with Allen Nielsen and Donajd Warren as guests at'tHe'eytht: A number of business matters mat-ters were taken care of by the members among which were the following: . .. ' The club decided to sponsor a refreshment booth at the race track on Saturday and Monday of the Iron County Fair and named Lions Bob Miller and Earl Bunn to be in charge. The dub members are to put up the banners on Main Street as another aid to the fair advertising, with Lion Glen Halterman in charge of the project. Thales Brown met with the club and spoke to the members mem-bers concerning the annual livestock show to be hold in Cedar City on Sept. 7, 8 and 9. He stated that he felt that the businessmen and club members mem-bers should support the local boys who have animals in the show by bidding on and buying buy-ing the animals from the boys. Foyer Olson, district ranger on the Dixie National Forest had been asked to meet with the club and discuss the possibilities pos-sibilities of getting help from his agency for the establishment establish-ment of the recreation area at the Yankee Reservoir. Mr. Olson stated that the Forest Service has no funds available for such a project at this time, but he hoped that in the near future, and with Golden Gate ticket plan at recreation rec-reation areas, that the forst department would be able to help out on this project. A work meeting was scheduled sched-uled for Wednesday, Aug. 30 at the old Burton garage to work on a float for entry in the Iron County Fair Parade on Labor Day. This project is also to include the Lady Lions. Fourteen members of the club were awarded attendance attend-ance pins for having a 100'c attendance at all meetings. They were: Gayle Wood, James Fare, Earl Bunn, Wm. Burns, Glen Halterman, Leo Hall, Ted Burton. Robert Miller, Wimmer Mortensen, Ramon Bentley, Trenton Jones, Osmer Nielsen, David Wilkerson and Eugene Robb. |
