Show Activities Highlight Three Day Fair In Iron County Iron County's 19(37 Fair continues con-tinues a pattern of "A Family A Fair," as preparations are made for the annual event in Parowan Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Sept. 2, 3 and 4. Iron County Fair Chairman, D. Amasa Stones, Paragonah, has extended an invitation for everyone in the county and visitors in the area to participate parti-cipate in this highlight of the fall season. I Named to reign over the ; three-day festivities was the 1967 royalty selected at the Miss Iron County Pageant on Aug. 12. They will be Queen, Miss Colleen Piatt, Cedar City, and her attendants, Miss Bob-ette Bob-ette Linford, Cedar City, and Miss Bonnie Jean Jensen, Parowan. Par-owan. Exhibits on Display Thousands of exhibits will be on display at the Fair with all of them on all departments depart-ments to be housed at the Parowan Elementary School. All items entered will be judged before the doors open to the public at 1 p. m. Saturday, Sat-urday, officials state. Exhibits will be on display from 1 to 6 p.m., Sunday from 4 to 7:30 p. m., and on Monday from 11:30 a. m. to 5 p. m. Special attractions will also get under way Saturday with two days of Horse Racing and Rodeo events to be staged at the Parowan Race Track. The two days of racing will be Saturday Sat-urday and Monday with two special races, the Iron County Futurity, and the Iron County Coun-ty Maturity. Races a Highlight The top purses paid in the entire state will be paid at the Iron County Fair Race Meet, and the top race horses in the entire area will be on hand to vie for these purses. Top stock has been secured for the rodeo events which will be held between races. Sunday's special attraction will be the presentation of the program, "An Evening of Music" Mu-sic" at the Parowan Third Ward Chapel at 8 p. m. It will feature a troupe of entertainers entertain-ers from the Eugene Jelesnik Productions. Labor Day Events Monday, Sept. 4 Labor Day is the big day of the Fair, featuring in addition to the races and modern dancing already mentioned, the Annual An-nual Parade and the highly competitive Pony Express Race. The parade, featuring a total to-tal of $275 in cash prizes will be staged down Parowan's Main Street at 10 a. m. and the Pony Express race is set at 1 p. m. at the Parowan Race Track. |
