Show Cedar Redmen Ready for First Clash with Basic High School Cedar High School Redman football team will open their 1967 campaign Friday, Sept. 8 when they travel to Henderson, Hender-son, Nev. for a clash with tough Basic High School in a non-league encounter. The Redmen, who under Coach Sawyers last season, worked out of the single wing formation then later on moved mov-ed into the more standard T. This year the team is expected expect-ed to work for the T more basically, bas-ically, but could revert to the single wing on occasions, Sawyers Saw-yers said. Working the T formation from the important quarterback quarter-back spot will be senior Dale Hatch, who has good experience exper-ience from last season. Backing Back-ing him up will be Mike Lea-vitt, Lea-vitt, who worked principally with the sophomore squad during dur-ing the 1966 season. At the halfback spots will be veterans of last season Wade Roberts and Kim Math-eson Math-eson with help from letterman Randy Bentley and two fine prospects from last year's so phomore team, Bernell Thor-ley Thor-ley and Iifcss Miller. Completing the backfield will be Craig Knell at fullback, full-back, a regular from last year backed up by Knudsen, who is a junior this year. Ends provide one of the strongest spots for the Red-men Red-men with good experience in Mike Pratt, Russell Dodge, Mike Thompson and Wayne Esplin. On the interior line will be Randy Robinson, Boyd Carter, Jim Shumate and Mike Gardner Gard-ner at tackles and Mike Anker, Ank-er, Randy Hoyt, and Brent White at guards.
