Show Det. Jerald Nelson Receives Narcotics Training Mr. and Mrs. Dean Nelson of Cedar City received word that their son, Det. Jerald Nelson Nel-son of the Henderson Police Department recently returned from an intensive course in narcotics in California and Henderson Police Chief, George Crisler, has received two letters let-ters commending him on his work there. Det. Nelson completed 290 hours of the in-service training train-ing on the fundamentals of narcotics. He then spent 30 days in San Diego with the .State Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement. En-forcement. Chief Crisler received re-ceived a letter-from the Dc partment of Justice commending commend-ing Nelson. It said, "During his period of training, Det. Nelson displayed an unusual amount of interest and ingenuity, inge-nuity, and possesses the ability abili-ty to get along well and cooperate co-operate with law enforcement officers which Is very import-ant import-ant in police work." He received training in the state narcotics laws, federal narcotics laws, and allied laws, and identifying various drugs, including marihuana. He also participted in field investigation. in-vestigation. Det. Nelson has been with the Henderson Police Department Depart-ment for four years. After completing com-pleting his training in the narcotics school he was assigned as-signed to work strictly with the narcotics agents at the sheriff's office in North Las Vegas and Las Vegas -police departments, He is married to the former Susan Benson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Benson of Par-owan Par-owan and they are the parents of four children. . |
