Show Fish and Game Dept. Reports on Fishing Conditions The last big plants of catch-able catch-able size fish went into waters wat-ers throughout the state as Fish and Game hatcheries completed this last push in preparation for the crowd of anglers out for the long Labor Day week end. These fresh plants of fish will add spice to the fine fishing fish-ing already enjoyed by so many fishermen in all parts of the state. Crisp evenings and pleasant days are a sure sign of fall and this brings to Utah what some consider the very finest of fishing conditions. Water levels are being drawn down in most lakes and ' reservoirs and the cooler wa- tef of fall brings fish out of the depths where they have escaped the hot summer sun. Fishing conditions in the southern Utah area has been indicated by officers of the southern regional office as follows: Beaver County: Most lakes on Beaver Mountain are fair fishing and camping conditions condi-tions are good. Panguitch Lake: Good pressure pres-sure and success high. Trout 11-16"; a few cuthroats 9-14" being taken. Fly fishing picking pick-ing up, and some small planters plant-ers being taken. Pine Lake: Fair. There have been floods in this area; roads are OK now. Lower Bowns: Fair. Good on flies in evening. Upper Bowns: Slow. All reservoirs have had extensive ex-tensive water draw downs in Iron County. Lake Powell: Bass fishing mid and upper portion of the lake is fair for fish up to one pound; for larger fish, fishing is slow. Trout fishing near the dam is fair. Catfishing is excellent. ex-cellent. Navajo Lake: Fishing picking pick-ing up in the evenings; pressure pres-sure light; fishing with bait. Fish Lake: Fair trolling in deep water; fair bait. Three large Mackinaw caught last week. Johnson Reservoir: Good on bait; fair trolling; fly fishing in evening good. |
