Show Telegrams Announce Preliminary Approval of Parowan Sewer Loan which the city is to have on hand when the loan and grant are given final approval. It had been hoped by city officials offi-cials that the action by the Farmers Home Administration would be taken in time for the project to get under way this fall. The city officials have indicated indi-cated that as soon as the loan and grant was given final approval, ap-proval, an engineering firm of Salt Lake City, would begin work immediately on a survey of the city, and drawing plans for the project, a portion of the job which will take approximately ap-proximately three months. When the engineering work is finished, we understand the FHA will go over the plans and issue a call for bids for construction through its office as approved by Parowan City officials. I Telegrams which arrived simultaneously si-multaneously Friday afternoon after-noon to Parowan City Mayor, Ralph S. Orton, and the Iron County Record, brought the first cheering word from Sen. Frank E. Moss, in Washington, D. C, concerning the loan and grant to Parowan City lor the construction of a sewags disposal dis-posal system. The telegrams carried the following information, from Utah's Senator Moss: "Farmers Home Administration Administra-tion Friday gave preliminary approval to Parowan application applica-tion for new sewer system. Plan contemplates loan of $266,000 and grant of $187,000 for system to serve 420 families. fam-ilies. The above amounts will be used toward the construction of the sewer system within the city, for outfall lines and a sewage disposal plant to be located approximately two miles northwest of the city. Added to the above funds will be another grant of $40,000, to come from the Public Health, Education and Welfare. Wel-fare. Total cost of the project will be approximately $525,000 according to Mayor Orton. The loan and grant, totaling $453,000, and the public health grant, will be supplemented by funds collected by Parowan Paro-wan city from property owners own-ers for sewer frontage fees, etc. |
