Show Parowan City Officials Rushing Plans For Sewer Project, Culinary Water Well Two important projects, as far as the welfare and growth of Parowan City residents are concerned, were given the green light at the Monday meeting of the Parowan City Council, we are informed by Mayor Ralph Orton. These projects are a new well to supply culinary water for residents, res-idents, and the other is the construction of a sewage system sys-tem for the community. On the well project the City Council conferred with Ralph B. Piatt, city " engineer, who presented plans and specifications specifica-tions for a 16-inch well to be drilled at the southeast corner of the city. The well is to be dais urged that an off and or ramp be included in plans foi the Interstate 15 overpass it the Holyoak Lane west of th( city. They report that their re quest wasn't received with an enthusiasm by the state offi' cials, indicating that such ramps apparently were not in the planning. Councilman Rasmussen reported re-ported his attendance at the Utah municipal league convention con-vention in Salt Lake City on last week end. City Manager Wood Decker reported to the council that the engine on the city back hoe was in need of repairs or replacement, and the council drilled on city owned land and if successful, will furnish a large part of the city's culinary water needs. After making some changes in the plans, the council instructed in-structed Mr. Piatt to go ahead with final plans for making a call for bids, Specifications will ask for bids on both rotary ro-tary and cable type drilling. The estimated cost of this project pro-ject is $15,000, and it is hoped that it can bo completed for use by late this fall. George Gudgle of the Salt Lake engineering firm of Bush anji Gudgle, and Orville Isom, citf attorney, met with the council for a lengthy discus-1 decided that it should be replaced re-placed if possible, as it has had several overhaul jobs already. al-ready. Decker also reported that he now has the tar on hand to paint the canyon penstock pen-stock line of the city hydro plant, and was instructed to go ahead with the work. Osmer Nielsen and Scott Mitchell of the board of direc-ors direc-ors of the Bank of Iron County Coun-ty met with the council to request re-quest some repairs to the bank building roof to stop leaks in it. Plans for the Improvements were presented pre-sented by Councilman Morris Rasmussen and Mr. Walker informed in-formed the city officials that! state funds are available to i match funds secured by the city on a 50-50 bas4s-at any time. Mayor Orton states that the city has some funds on hand now, and that it will be spent on grading and leveling at the airport.
