Merryweathers To Observe Golden Wedding Anniversary William and Ida Merryweather, longtime residents of southern Utah, will observe their golden wedding anniversary in Cedar City Saturday, April 9. An open house will be held in the Cedar City LDS Institute of Religion from 7 to 10 p. m. Mr. and Mrs. Merryweather were married March 2S), 1910, but have postponed observance of their anniversary until their ehil- j dren and grandchildren could at- j tend during the annual Easter! vacation. i i Following their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple, Mr. and Mrs. Merryweather moved to Cedar Ce-dar City from Provo. Mr. Merryweather Merry-weather helped establish the Southern Utah Pllumbing and Heating Company. He has installed in-stalled plumbing and heating in many prominent buildings in this area, including Cedar Breaks, Zion, Bryce and Grand Canyon i national parks, schools, churches and in many homes. Both Mr. and Mrs. Merryweather Merrywea-ther have served the church and community. They have lived in I St. George since 1957 where Mr. Merryweather was called as an engineer for the St. George Temple, Tem-ple, and Mrs. Merryweather has been a worker in the temple. Both have been ordinance workers work-ers for many years and officiat-ors officiat-ors since 1950. Prior to that time Mr. Merry- weather served as president of I the Elder's Quorum and in the ! stake genealogical committee and in other capacities. Mrs. Merryweather Mer-ryweather served as a teacher and officer in the Primary, the MIA, ward and stake Relief Society So-ciety and as a stake missionary. She has been particularly prominent prom-inent in providing temple and burial clothing for people of the area. I The four daughters of the couple: cou-ple: Mrs. Stanley (Atha) Abel, Mrs. W. G. (Afton) Edwards, both of Ontario, Calif.; Mrs. Dean (Orell) Maxwell, Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Richard (Lael) Dotson, Cedar City, will be hostesses for the open house. Mr. and Mrs. Merryweather have 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family extends a cordial invitation to all friends to attend at-tend the open house. The family requests no gifts. |
