Show j Reed Benson to Speak at College April 4th i Reed Benson, Washington, D. C. representative of the John Birch Society, will speak at College of Southern Utah Monday, April 4, at 8:15 p. m. in the large ballroom ball-room in the CSU Student Center. The public is invited to attend. Mr. Benson is a former Air Force chaplain and political science major. He is the oldest son of E;:ra Taft Benson, former United States Secretary of Agriculture Agri-culture and member of the Quorum Quor-um of Twelve Apostles, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was born in Salt Lake City and graduated from Brigham I Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He directed! missionary activity for the LDS1 Church in England and other countries for three years. Mr. Benson served with the i United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was on the staff of the Republican National Committee and the National Republican Re-publican Congressional Committee. Commit-tee. During the 3950 presidential' campaign he spoke before audiences audi-ences in more than 30 states. In a statement issued at the time he joined the John Birch Society So-ciety in 19G2 Mr. Benson stated, "Alter more than a year of care-Iful care-Iful iiive.it illation, I am now ioin- ing the John Birch Society and wiii serve as its Utah coordinator. 1 beheve that the Society is the most effective non-religious organization or-ganization devoted to tne preservation preser-vation and promotion of American Ameri-can constitutional freedom, and the exposure and the defeat of the socialist-communist enemy within." |
