Herbert Bentley of the Dixie Wildlife federation prepares to release new pheasant species spe-cies in Washington County area. It is a white wing preas-ant preas-ant rooster, which they hope will propagate into a fine game bird in the area. White Wing Pheasants Released in Dixie On March 15 the Utah Department Depart-ment of Fish and Game released some White Wing Pheasants in the Washington fields southwest of St. George. The white wing pheasant is more adaptable to warmer clim-than clim-than is the ringneck pheasant. It than is the rinkneck phesant. It is about the same size as the ringneck and has similar colora- j tion except that it lacks the white ring around the neck and has white feathers on the wing. Additional releases are planned plan-ned as birds become available in the future. The Fish and Game Department is optimistic that these birds may represent a valuable val-uable addition to the southern Utah upland game shooting. |
