Show Mildred Sargent Honored j ' 1 w By Mrs. W. Clair Rowley and Mrs. Amos C. Hatch Iron County Mother of the Year Co-chairmen Mrs. Mildred Pinnick Sargent, the southern District nominee for Utah's Mother of the Year for 1966-67 has been named, by the selection committee, as an alternate alter-nate to Mrs. Calvin Fletcher of Logan, Utah's Mother of the Year. We of the southern district are proud and happy to have our candidate win such a high honor. Some years ago we had the dis. tinct honor of having our candidate, cand-idate, Mrs. Harley W. Dalton, be selected as the Utah Mother of the Year, where she represented our state' very well at the National Nation-al Awards Ceremony in New York City. Mrs. Sargent, wife of David L. Sargent and the mother of nine outstanding children; eight of whom are still living, was born and raised in Utah's capital where she attended the University Univer-sity nf Utah and was a school teacher before her marriagp to ! Mr. Sinent and moving 1o south-, south-, ern Utah to become a farm wife, j Throughout her life 'he lias been active in church and civic affairs, both on her own and supporting her husband in his many church and civic duties. After her children were raised to where they were all in school she wnt back to school teaching and attended the College of Southern Utah where she obtained her bachelor's degree. In recognition of her great qualities as an outstanding woman wo-man and mother the College of Southern Utah presentes Ihe "Mildred Sargent Womanhood Award" each year to a worthy candidate from among the coeds attending this school. This award j symbolizes the standards of womanhood wo-manhood that are emulated by I Mrs. Sargent. We congratulate her Summer Reading Club, of which she is a charter member, for their sponsorship spon-sorship of Mrs. Sargent and wish to thank Diem for the very outstanding out-standing work they have done in this respect.
