Show CSUGirls'Week Opens Sunday, Many Events Set Associated Women Students organization on the campus of the College of Southern Utah will sponsor the annual "Girls' Week" activities Sunday, April 19 through Friday, April 21, according accord-ing to Miss Marcia Johnson president pres-ident from Murray. Theme of the week's events will be "An Affair to Remember" and the leadoff activity will be the Mothers' and Daughters' tea and fashion show Sunday, April 19. The tea will begin at 1 p. m. in the CSU auditorium and will be followed at 2 p. m. by the fashion show. All mothers with daughters at CSU are Invited to attend these two events. Tuesday, April 21 the A.W.S. will present the assembly for the student body at 11 a. m. On Wednesday Wed-nesday the girls will spend the afternoon swimming and picnicking pic-nicking at St. George. Highlight of the week will be Thursday with the election of new A.W.S. officers for the coming com-ing year. Candidates for the office of-fice of president are: Zoe Leone Palmer, Cedar City and Carolyn Dailey, Summit. Secretarial candidates can-didates are Patty Ann Olds, To-querville, To-querville, and Margaret Maxwell, Glendale. At this same time the outstanding A.W.S. girl for 1959 will be named and presented with a "Silver Spoon Award" by faculty sponsor of the award, Mrs. Elaine Southwick. Nominated Nominat-ed to receive the award are Emily Emi-ly Spencer, Glendale; Cleo Tullis, Newcastle; Corine Chamberlain, Glendale, and Marion Lofthouse, Milford. Final event is scheduled Friday, Fri-day, April 24 with the Preference Prefer-ence Ball. This is a girls' choice dance and will be held In the main ballroom at 9 p. m. Faculty advisors to A.W.S. on the cam-.pus cam-.pus are Mrs. Gwyn Clark and Mrs. Ada Carpenter. |
