Show Cedar Junior High Thinclads Take Second at Dixie Meet Robert E. Lee, led the Cedar City Junior High School participants partici-pants to second place in the Dixie Dix-ie Invitational track meet at St. George Saturday with two first places and as a member of the medley relay team. Lee placed first in the 220 410 yard run. One of the finest marks In the meet, however, was turned in by Reid Sherratt of Cedar City who bettered the junior high discus record with a heave of 139 feet 11 Inches. Other first places gamed by Cedar participants included the 880 yard run with Kent Farns-worth Farns-worth topping the field, and the medley relay, with Neil Roberts, John Stevenson, Paul Stokes and Lee, carrying the Cedar banner. John Stevenson won the high Jump event at five feet three inches. The Cedar squad finished Just one-sixth of a point behind the Woodward Junior High School of St George, to place second in the meet. Two places were won in the 180 yard low hurdles with Brent Nelson Nel-son placing third and Neil Roberts Rob-erts taking fourth place. Roger Evans turned In a third place in the 880 yard run and Donnie Roberts Rob-erts placed second In the broad Jump. It is anticipated that group of Junior high participants will be entered in the junior hlh division divi-sion of the BYU Invitational meet at Provo this week end. Participants will be entered on their own, however, as they will not be sent by the school. |
