Show NEWCASTLE NEWS NOTES By Norma Chrlstensen Mrs. Belle Hulet, our local postmaster, reports that she received re-ceived two visitors from the post office department. They were J. C. Glidden and N. G. Jackson from the Denver regional office. They were here to improve the mail service. Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Tullis were Salt Lake City visitors last week. While there, they visited with some of their relatives, Mrs. Verue Sandstrom and her family fam-ily of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Tullis and family of Salt Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Farnsworth and family, also of Salt Lake City. Robert Reeves has moved back to his farm from St. George where he has spent the winter. His family will Join him later thi mnth. Mrs. Lucille Deem made a 24-hour 24-hour stop over at the home of her daughter a. J family, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Chrlstensen. Boyd and Norma met her at the train in Modena, Friday and took her back Saturday, so she could continue con-tinue on her way to Los Angeles, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Tullis and family of Enterprise, were visitors visit-ors here last week, with their relatives, Scott, David and Sterling Sterl-ing Tullis and their families. Cleo and Jack Tullis, daughter daugh-ter and son of Mr. and ,Mrs. Sterling Tullis, traveled with the CSU group to Carbon College In Price, Utah, to attend a Lambda Delta Sigma convention. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Drake and little son, Tirtimy, were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Dar-win Hulet. Grant is ReVoe's brother bro-ther and has just rcct-nly been released from duty with the Air Force. At present, he is working at the Mile Square Ranch in Beryl. Grandon Holgate of Orderville, was in town last week on business. bus-iness. ------ The Escalante Valley Lion's Club held its meeting last Saturday night. A number of town members were in attendance. attend-ance. Last Thursday, the club visited in Fillmore, -with th.at club, and Monday night, they went to Kanab to visit me Ka-nab Ka-nab club. Lion members attending attend-ing from here were Russell Christensen, Trusten Hart, Robert Rob-ert Reeves, Don Applegate, Darwin Dar-win Hulet, and Scott Tullis. The different Lions clubs get points for their different activities, and the Escalante Valley Lions Club has been in the top three clubs in the district' ever since they were organized. Our Sacrament meeting Sunday Sun-day was under the direction of the Stake High Council. Ronald Young, high councilman from Calient, Nev.. and Arthur Jones, stake patriarch from Enterprise, were the speakers. There was a general priesthood priest-hood meeting held in Panaca, Nev., Sunday night. A good percentage per-centage of our priesthood members mem-bers attended as three car loads went. Mont Sorenson went to Salt Lake City Sunday night, for treatment of an injury sustained on his eye four years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hulet and four children went to St. George Monday afternoon, to vis-It vis-It their folks, Mr. and Mr?. Charles F. Hulet and Mrs. Mary Leavltt, Nita Rae's grandmother. Mr. and Mrs. Trusten Hart and two daughters went to Hurricane to visit Clara's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Stratton. Floyd A. Bekins of Los Angeles was here this week on business. The Newcastle Women's Sewing Sew-ing Club- met Wednesday night at the home of Mrs, Belle Hulet After a delightful evening, refreshments re-freshments were served to all who attended. , |
