Show State Science Fair Opens on Friday On College oi Southern Utah Campus Nearly 25 exhibits are register-ed register-ed for the first State Science Fair held In the southern section of Utah Friday and Saturday, April 17 and 18. The fair will be conducted con-ducted on the campus of the College Col-lege of Southern Utah under the leadership of Prof. Theron Ash-croft. Ash-croft. A number of faculty members mem-bers from the divisions of physical physi-cal science, biological science, englneerlnf and mathematics will act as Judges, guides and assist In the programming, satd Prof. Ashcroft. A wide variety of scientific activities ac-tivities are r 'presented In the exhibits ex-hibits and papers entered In the fair, said Prof. Ashcroft. Rockets have attracted the attention of several Junior scientists. Also on display will be a solar battery, vandergraph generator and a steam turbine, lie detector, transistorized tran-sistorized transceiver, a supersonic superso-nic test sled and other items. Prof. Ashcroft indicated that the public was Invited to visit the fair Friday, April 17 from 7j to 10 p. m. and Saturday, April 18 from 11 a. m. to 12:30 p. m. and from 2 to 3 p. m. The fair will be held In the small ballroom ball-room In the women's gym. Winners In the various divisions divi-sions In the Junior high and senior sen-ior high areas will be announced at 12:30 p. m. Saturday and awards presented directly after the reading of scientific papers, according to Prof. Ashcroft. |
