Show Lingering Illness Claims Lizzie Matheson Death came to Mrs. Ellzabe'h (Lizzie) Mickelson Matheson, 74, wife of David A. Matheson and prominent church worker of Parowan, Par-owan, at the home of a son-iri-i law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bulloch, In Cedar Cl'y on I Saturday, following a lingering ( Illness. Mrs. Matheson had neen i receiving treatment in the Iron County Hospital for some Mme and had been moved to the home iof her daughter a few days be-I be-I fore death came. Funeral services for Mrs. Math- eson were held at 2 p. m. Tuesday Tues-day In the Parowan Third Ward chapel with Bishop Howard M. J Adams conducting and speak-I speak-I Ing briefly. Speakers were Clair Mortensen, a nephew, Sal' .Lake City, and R. Taylor Miller. I The prayer at the home was by Joseph E. Ward, the invocation was by William Marsden, the benediction was by LeRoy Adams and the dedicatory prayer at the city cemetery was by F. C. Van . Buren. The musical program consisred 'of the opening song, "Sometime We'll Understand," and the clos-Ing clos-Ing one, "Abide With Me Tis I Eventide," by a double mix-' mix-' ed quarte. composed of W. Clair ; Rowley. Cherie Day, Alice Mitch-ell, Mitch-ell, Berta Burton, Veda Adams. Karl and Harold Mitchell; a vocal vo-cal duet "An Evening Prayer." by Rula D. Orton and Mary Dawn Dal'on, all accompanied by Marv Lyman, and a vocal solo, "That Wonderful Mother of Mine," by Howard D. Knight accompanied I by Itha Mortensen, who was also I at the organ for prelude and pos'lude music. Pall bearers were the eight 'sons of the deceased and flow-j flow-j ers were In charge of Mae Burt ! assisted by grandchildren. I An active member of the L D S ' Church, Mrs. Ma'heson served In the Primary Association for many ! years. She served as a teacher. I as ward Primary President and as a member of the Parowan , Stake Primary Board. She was 'also active In the Relief Society, serving as a counselor to the ward president and as a visiting; teacher. Mrs. Matheson was born In Parowan Jan. 23, 188-1, to Joseph and Eliza Gurr Mickelson. She attended local schools and was married here Dec. 22. 1903 to David A. Matheson. The marriage mar-riage was later solemnized In the St. George Temple. Besides her church work she was a member mem-ber of the Daughters of Utah Pio-neers Pio-neers and the Parowan unit of the American Legion Auxiliary. Six of her eight sons served in the armed forces of this country during World War II. She is surved by her husband, Parowan; eight sons, Claude M., Albuquerque, N. M.; David Albert, Al-bert, Scott M., Joseph M., and Earl, all of Parowan; Floyd and Victor R., Cedar City; McDell. Weed Heights, Nev.; three daugh-ers. daugh-ers. Mrs. Henry (Jean) Bulloch, Cedar City; Mrs. Aaron (Beth Leigh, Weed Heights, and Mrs. Arden (Nellie) Hirschi, La Mira-da, Mira-da, Calif. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a brother, John T. Mickelson, Parowan, and a sister. Mrs. Lovina Redd, MonMcello. Al so surviving are the following half-brothers and half-sisters: Mrs. Alma Stubbs, Jess, Frank; I and Lewis Mickelson, Parowan; j Mrs. Frank Holms, Provo, and a foster brother, Douglas Miller.
