Show Chamber Names Heber Gurr President for 1958i Heber Gurr, active civic and church worker of this city was elected as president of the Parowan Paro-wan Chamber of Commerce, last week, to succeed Robert B. Mi'ch-ell, Mi'ch-ell, who has headed the organl-za'ion organl-za'ion for the past year. Other officers named at the same time were as follows: Worth Orton, vice president; Ralph Orton, secre'ary, (re-elected); with W. Clair Rowley, How-ard How-ard Stubbs and Mitchell as members mem-bers of the board of directors. J. H. Pendleton was retained as executive ex-ecutive secretary of the chamber, a post he has also held for the past year. Standing committees were also asked to continue 'o serve as presently constituted, In a report to the meeting, the road committee, consisting of W. Clair Rowley, R. L. Fenton, Clifton Clif-ton Halterman and Jess Guymcn, s'ated that a priority schedule for road improvements In this end of the county had been presented pre-sented to the Iron County Commissioners. Com-missioners. On the coun'y road program the road through the First Left Hand Canyon and on over the mountain 'o Pangutrch Lake, was given first priority, with the Parowan Gap road as no. 2. Only one road was listed, of course, on the s'ate road system, that one being the Parowan Canyon Can-yon road to Cedar Breaks.. The goal of the committee is to ste this road completed by 1959 and Jess Guyman, a member of the committee repor'ed that he had been Informed by the state highway high-way department officers that $250,000 had been allocated to the project this year, which sum should complete the road into Bear Flat. |
