Show Mrs. Blanche Houchen Receives Honorary Golden Gleaner Pin BLANCHE HOUCHEN ' Blanche J. Houchen was presented pre-sented the Honorary Golden Gleaner award In morning session ses-sion of Stake Quarterly Conference Confer-ence by Sister Leila Whatcott, Stake YWMIA president. Sister Houchen was presented this award for the outstanding church service she has rendered during her lifetime. She has worked in the wards as Sunday School Teacher, Chorister in Relief Re-lief Society, Theology Leader In Relief Society, President of Relief Society, Gleaner Leader, and in the Stake she has worked as Gleaner Leader, Manual Counsel or and President. She has served on a mission to the British Isles and while there she was a mother moth-er to the missionaries serving In that mission field and a very strong bond of friendship was established. Since returning home she has served as Stake Missionary and at the present time is representing represent-ing the Stake at the St. George temple. She also served as "Dorm Mother" at the College of Southern South-ern Utah Girls' Dormitory and here she used her influence for good among the girls. Sister Houchen has been a widow for many years. She has been a wonderful mother in Zion and raised two children. Her son gave his life in the navy during World War II. Her daughter Is a faithful member of the church, rendering service in the activities activ-ities of the church. Mrs. Houchen was born April i 20, 1897 at Enoch, a daughter of John Lee and Betty Walker Jones. |
