Show I PARAQOWAH NEWS WOTES By Mora Lund Paragonah's limelight news item this week is the Variety Show and dance put on Saturday Satur-day evening in the school auditorium audi-torium by Clair Lamoreaux and his Explorers for a building fund benefit project. Clair, a fine en tertainer in his own right, accompanied ac-companied himself on the guitar as a soloist. Other talent displayed dis-played was: Mike Williamson, trumpet solo; Duane Lamoreaux, saxophone solo; Max Partner, harmonica solo; Heber Lund, accordion ac-cordion solo; Robin Lamoreaux, vocal solo; Gordon and Ronnie Topham, skit; Eugene Boardman, J. B. Jones, and Max Partner, vocal vo-cal trio with Max accompanying on the guitar. The ever popular pantomime duo, Joe Topham and Doug Rowley afforded the audience a good laugh. Heber Lund and Mike Williamson did exceptionally well on their vocal renditions. Miss Sherry Dawn Evans and Miss Oma Lee Smith1 did a flat-footed dance number which added much pleasure to the show. Ralph Edward3 filled the position posi-tion of master of ceremonies well. The six-piece archestra for dancing consisted of Heber Lund, accordion; Duane Lamoreaux and Gordon Topham, saxophones; Mike Williamson, cornet; Kenneth Ken-neth Topham, drums, and Clair Lamoreaux, guitar. Everyone was high in their praise of this delightful de-lightful music. Mother's Day was fittingly ob served Sunday with a program In Sunday School where every class paid tribute to the mothers in music and speech. Superintendent Superin-tendent Frank Dunton conducted and presented every mother with a token of appreciation. In the afternoon the same theme was carried out under the direction of the ward bishopric In a most interesting manner. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Daven. port and son Jerold are rejoicing over the arrival of a new daughter daugh-ter and sister, at the Iron County Coun-ty Hospital Saturday morning, May 4. The happy grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Daven-iport Daven-iport and Mr. and Mrs. William Robb. I Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Massey and Martin of Bell Gardens, Calif, brought Mrs. Massey's mother, Mrs. Amy Prothero, home on Saturday. Sat-urday. Mrs. Prothero has been visiting the Masseys, also Mr. and Mrs. Rex Prothero and sons and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Scott, for the past three weeks In southern south-ern California. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Engle-stead Engle-stead and Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Bentley and three small sons, all of St. George, spent Mother's Moth-er's day here with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Lund Joined by Mrs. Kenneth Barton of Milford early Saturday morning and made a rushed trip to St George hospital to see the extent of injuries sustained by the Murl Gibson family of Cedar City, who were involved In a three-car col-lislon col-lislon Friday evening west of St. George. Mr. and Mrs. Gibson, Beth and Martha were returning from a two-week vacation in southern California when the accident ac-cident happened. Jim and Anna Talbot of Cedar City spent Sunday with their par-ents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Orson Talbot. Tal-bot. Miss Talbot had as her juest. Arnold Mellor, C S U student stu-dent of Fayette, Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Ralph and daughter have moved to Wil-1 Hams, Ariz, to make their home. They have spent quite some time here with Mrs. Ralph's grand-father, grand-father, John B. Topham. LeGrand Robb has returned to his home in Salt Lake City after spending six weeks in this vicinity vi-cinity shearing sheep. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Topham drove to St. George to spend part of a day with his mother. Mrs. Bell Topham. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Robinson and three daughters of Spanish Fork spent Mother's Day here and In Parowan ilth the Chester Robinsons and Eugene Warrtns. Mr. and Mrs. Orson Talbot and Judy drove to Beaver to spend the afternoon Sunday with her' mother, Mrs. Jane Gale. Irene Robinson, Martha E. Barton, Bar-ton, Lula Ba.stian, Clea Edwards, Hannah Robinson and Nora Lundj attended sessions at the temple In St. George on Friday. Irene' and Cleo also visited with their parents and Rrandparents. Mr.! and Mrs. Arch Lamoreaux. Vesta Rae Barton, Duane Lam-oreaux. Lam-oreaux. Heber Lund and Kenneth Ken-neth Topham were the Para-gonah Para-gonah students who graduated from the Parowan Seminary on Sunday evening-. Duane Lamoreaux Lamor-eaux gave one of the talks on the program. H. B. Robinson was taken to the Iron County Hospital Sunday to receive treatment for a heart ailment. Mrs. Edith Davenport returned Friday evening from Kanab where she has spent the past two weeks with the Boyd Rob-Insion Rob-Insion family. Albert Jones and his cousin, Mrs. Eloise Lamoreaux Morgan and daughter of Henderson. Nev., were here for a few days with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Robb are visiting here with the Clark Robb family. Orson Talbot and Thomas Abbott Ab-bott took a group of boys to the St. George Temple for baptismal, work on Saturday of last week.' Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Robb or Salt Lake City are here spending a few days with the William Robb and Douglas Davenport-families. Davenport-families.
