Show City Council Takes Up Parking Matters Parking problems in the city business district came up for discussion at Monday night's meeting of the City Council. The question was brought up by Mrs. Jay Benson and Mrs. Earl Bunn, owners and operators op-erators of the Parowan Cafe, who made a request that a limited parking area be set aside on Parowan's Main Street After considerable discussion the matter was referred to the streets and sidewalks committee to call a hearing on the matter with all business owners on the street to be called In and given an opportunity to give ideas on the matter. After gaining the opinion of city attorney Orville Isom and: giving more study to the prop- j osition of television for the area, action taken at a special meeting meet-ing was recinded to a certain extent. At that meeting the city made an appropriation of $500 from recreation funds held by the city, to carry on television experiments for local citizens, j The city attorney was of the opinion that this was slightly out of line for city procedure, and recommended that this project pro-ject be carried out with help from the county or private individuals. Also that it be placed in the Jurisdiction of an organized group or committee, preferably the Chamber of Commerce A decision was made by the council to pay bills already Incurred In-curred by the project but to halt any further contracting of debts to be paid by the city. In other action the council sold the old dump ground area to Clifton Tvlor and OKed the purchase of 550 feet of hose for use In watering the cemetery. |
